In Windows 7, you can find more things faster, start typing in the start menu search box and you will find your search results from your PC instantly. But you want to use some better alternative then you can disable the Windows default search box. You can do this with Turn Windows feature on or off. Here is a step wise step instruction which will help you to get this done easily.
1. Click on Start button and search for ‘Turn Windows feature on or off’. Select ‘Turn Windows on or off’ to open the dialog box ‘Windows Features’.
2. In Windows features dialog box, uncheck the box for Windows search.
3. A warning box will appear with a message ‘ Turning off Windows search might affect other Windows features and programs installed on your computer, including default settings. Do you want to continue?
4. Click ‘Yes’ on the Warning window and ‘OK”’ on the Windows Features and wait for a minute.
5. Click on ‘Restart Now’ to restart your computer to apply changes.
Restart your computer and click on ‘Start’ button and you will nor find Windows search box as earlier. You can follow the same steps to enable it also.
